Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives related to Planetary Health, including climate action, biodiversity protection, circular economy principles, and sustainable resource management within ING Netherlands.
• Conduct in-depth research and analysis on emerging environmental trends, regulatory developments, market best practices, and innovative sustainable finance solutions relevant to Planetary Health.
• Provide expert advice and strategic guidance to various business units across ING NL on integrating Planetary Health considerations into their products, services, operations, and risk management frameworks.
• Drive the conceptualization and execution of sustainable finance solutions that directly contribute to environmental sustainability, such as green loans, sustainable bonds, and impact investments.
• Engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, governmental bodies, NGOs, industry peers, and clients, to build consensus and promote ING's sustainability agenda.
• Develop comprehensive reports, presentations, and communication materials to articulate ING's Planetary Health strategy, progress, and impact to both internal and external audiences.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives, utilizing data-driven insights to recommend adjustments and ensure continuous improvement and alignment with strategic objectives.
• Contribute to the CoE Sustainability's thought leadership by identifying opportunities for innovation, participating in industry forums, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
• Manage sustainability-focused projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and achievement of desired outcomes.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Proven experience, typically 3-5+ years, in sustainability consulting, environmental management, sustainable finance, or a strategic role focused on environmental issues within a corporate setting.
• In-depth knowledge and demonstrated expertise in key Planetary Health topics, including but not limited to climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation, circular economy models, and sustainable supply chains.
• Exceptional analytical capabilities, with a strong ability to interpret complex data, identify key insights, and translate them into clear, actionable strategic recommendations.
• Highly developed influencing and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage, persuade, and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• A delivery-oriented mindset with a proven track record of successfully managing projects and achieving tangible results in a dynamic environment.
• Energetic and creative approach to problem-solving, capable of developing innovative solutions to complex sustainability challenges.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
• Fluency in both Dutch and English is essential for effective communication within our Netherlands-based team and with international partners.
