Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Vertex tax solutions (e.g., Vertex O Series, Vertex Q Series) integrated with various SAP modules, primarily SAP Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Materials Management (MM).
• Provide expert guidance and hands-on support for all aspects of Vertex tax integration within complex SAP landscapes for US and Canadian operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Analyze complex business requirements related to tax determination, calculation, reporting, and reconciliation, translating them into effective, scalable Vertex and SAP solutions.
• Collaborate closely with functional teams (e.g., Finance, Sales, Procurement), technical development teams, and business stakeholders to ensure successful integration, optimal performance, and user adoption of tax solutions.
• Perform comprehensive system testing, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to validate tax calculations, reporting accuracy, and overall system functionality.
• Develop detailed functional specifications, technical documentation, process flows, and comprehensive training materials for Vertex and SAP tax processes, ensuring knowledge transfer to client teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex tax-related issues within the integrated SAP and Vertex environment, providing timely and effective solutions and root cause analysis.
• Stay abreast of the latest indirect tax regulations and legislative changes in the US and Canada, as well as updates to Vertex and SAP functionalities, to ensure ongoing compliance and system optimization.
• Actively participate in project planning, status meetings, and provide regular, transparent updates on project progress, challenges, and proposed solutions to project management and stakeholders.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer and provide ongoing support to client teams, empowering them to manage and maintain the Vertex tax solution effectively post-implementation.
• Ensure adherence to best practices, established methodologies, and company standards throughout the entire project lifecycle, from conception to post-go-live support.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience as an SAP Vertex Consultant, with a strong track record of successfully implementing and supporting tax solutions for large, complex enterprises.
• Demonstrable expertise in integrating Vertex O Series or Q Series with core SAP modules, including Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Materials Management (MM).
• In-depth understanding of US and Canadian indirect tax regulations (e.g., Sales & Use Tax, GST/HST/PST, QST) and their practical application within SAP and Vertex environments.
• Experience in leading and supporting tax solution initiatives in a remote capacity, demonstrating excellent self-management, proactive communication, and virtual collaboration skills.
• Prior involvement in significant industrial transformation programs, large-scale SAP implementation projects, or complex system upgrades.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to accuracy in tax calculations and reporting.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders across different organizational levels.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced, dynamic, and project-driven environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
• A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field is highly desirable.
