Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research and development in areas such as computer graphics, animation, artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual/augmented reality, human-computer interaction, and other emerging technologies relevant to Disney's future.
  • Develop novel algorithms, systems, and prototypes that push the boundaries of current capabilities, contributing to the creation of next-generation experiences and tools.
  • Design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and interpret results to draw meaningful conclusions and inform project direction.
  • Collaborate closely with senior researchers, artists, and engineers, actively participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project discussions.
  • Document research progress, methodologies, and findings rigorously, contributing to internal reports, presentations, and potentially external publications.
  • Present research outcomes to internal stakeholders, demonstrating technical understanding and clear communication of complex ideas.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in relevant research fields, proposing innovative ideas and approaches to enhance ongoing projects.
  • Contribute to the overall intellectual property of The Walt Disney Company through creative problem-solving and novel contributions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics, Human-Computer Interaction, or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrated strong academic record and a genuine passion for advanced research and technological innovation.
  • Foundational knowledge and practical experience in at least one of Disney Research's core areas (e.g., machine learning, computer vision, physically based simulation, rendering, robotics, or interactive systems).
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or similar, along with experience using scientific computing libraries and development tools.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a valued member of a collaborative research team, contributing actively to group objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to tackling complex technical challenges and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for all work communications within our international research environment.
  • Availability to commit to a full-time internship for a duration of 3 to 4 months, based entirely in Zurich, Switzerland.
