Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and compassionate medical and surgical care to a diverse caseload of small animal patients.
  • Perform thorough clinical examinations, accurately diagnose conditions, and formulate effective, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Expertly utilise our advanced diagnostic equipment, including state-of-the-art dental radiography, digital x-ray systems, and referral-level ultrasound equipment with both cardiac and abdominal probes, to ensure precise and timely diagnoses.
  • Conduct a wide array of surgical procedures, ranging from routine soft tissue surgeries to more complex interventions, demonstrating excellent surgical proficiency and patient outcomes.
  • Operate and interpret findings from endoscopy and bronchoscopy procedures, contributing to advanced internal medicine investigations.
  • Communicate clearly, empathetically, and effectively with pet owners, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and preventative care recommendations.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with our team of skilled veterinary nurses and support staff to ensure optimal patient welfare, efficient practice operations, and a positive working atmosphere.
  • Actively participate in continuous professional development (CPD) activities, staying abreast of the latest advancements in veterinary medicine and surgery.
  • Maintain meticulous patient records and adhere to all professional and ethical guidelines set forth by the RCVS.
  • Contribute to emergency out-of-hours rota cover as required, ensuring continuity of critical care for our patients.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Veterinary Medicine degree (MRCVS or equivalent), eligible for full registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
  • Current and valid registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) to practice in the UK.
  • Proven post-graduate experience as a Veterinary Surgeon in a small animal practice setting, demonstrating a strong foundation in both general medicine and surgery.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in conducting routine medical investigations and performing a variety of surgical procedures.
  • Familiarity and confidence in operating and interpreting results from advanced diagnostic imaging equipment, including digital radiography, dental radiography, and ultrasound.
  • Experience with or a strong willingness to learn and utilise endoscopy and bronchoscopy equipment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • A genuinely compassionate and empathetic approach to animal care and client relations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload efficiently and effectively.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and collaborative attitude towards teamwork and professional growth.
