The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, a premier outdoor amphitheater and a non-profit organization dedicated to providing diverse performing arts and educational programming, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Contract Law Enforcement Officer. This critical role is integral to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all patrons, staff, artists, and the general public attending our wide array of events. As a Contract Law Enforcement Officer, you will be on the front lines, ensuring the smooth operation of events by expertly managing all aspects of law enforcement needs, from sophisticated traffic and crowd control strategies to proactive incident response both inside and outside our expansive venue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and execute all venue-related law enforcement requirements, ensuring comprehensive security coverage for all events hosted at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
  • Implement effective traffic management strategies for both vehicular and pedestrian flow, directing vehicles, managing parking, and ensuring safe ingress and egress for all attendees and personnel around the venue perimeter.
  • Oversee and execute crowd control measures, including managing large gatherings, maintaining orderly queues, preventing disturbances, and ensuring compliance with venue policies and public safety regulations.
  • Actively observe guests and the general environment prior to, during, and post-event, identifying and assessing potential security risks, suspicious activities, or individuals requiring attention.
  • Proactively identify and respond to security incidents, medical emergencies, and other public safety concerns, providing initial assessment, securing scenes, and coordinating with emergency services as necessary.
  • Strictly adhere to and implement event plans as directed by the Law Enforcement Lead, including deployment strategies, communication protocols, and specific instructions for various event phases.
  • Enforce all applicable local, state, and federal laws, as well as venue rules and regulations, ensuring a lawful and respectful environment for all individuals on property.
  • Engage in proactive de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts and manage disruptive behavior, ensuring minimal disruption to events and the safety of all parties involved.
  • Provide a highly visible and reassuring law enforcement presence, acting as a deterrent to criminal activity and a point of contact for guest assistance and inquiries.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal security teams, event staff, external law enforcement agencies, and emergency medical services to ensure a coordinated and seamless public safety operation.
  • Complete thorough and accurate incident reports, documenting all significant events, observations, and actions taken in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the venue, including backstage areas, seating sections, concourses, and exterior grounds, to identify and mitigate potential hazards or security breaches.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid and current State Peace Officer License or equivalent certification, demonstrating active law enforcement authority.
  • Proven experience in law enforcement, public safety, or security roles, particularly in environments involving large crowds, event management, or venue operations.
  • Ability to take precise direction from a designated Law Enforcement Lead and integrate effectively into a dynamic team structure.
  • Demonstrated capability to observe and assess situations keenly, identifying potential issues and responding appropriately prior to, during, and post-event.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with diverse groups of people, including guests, staff, and artists.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment, especially when operating under pressure or in emergency situations.
  • Physical ability to perform duties which may include extended periods of standing, walking, responding to incidents, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the event schedule of the venue.
